Dolomites – Florence – Lake Como – Cinque Terre – Rome
S2 E15 pt. 9 of 8 weeks of fun
Welcome back to another episode of Ma I’m Fine! This was the 9th stop on our quarter-life crisis trip. In pt. 1 of Italy, I share my solo road trip through the Dolomites, including epic hikes like the Three Peaks and Cadini di Misurina, tips for renting a car, and why public transportation doesn’t cut it. Next, I spent time in Florence. I loved visiting the Uffizi and seeing incredible Renaissance art. From there, I head to Lake Como, exploring villas (including the Star Wars villa!) and all the beauty Lake Como offers. After Lake Como, I trained to Cinque Terre, hopping between colorful villages and soaking in coastal views—despite the famous coastal walk being closed due to a landslide. This episode wraps up with my return to Rome, where I celebrated Halloween, partied until sunrise, and reflected on this unforgettable Italian journey.
Pt. 2 of Italy will pick up with an au pair interview with my friend Sam, who moved to Spain for a year, one last wild night out in Rome, a cooking class, and the insane journey home.
I hope this episode inspires you to go to Italy and helps with your research phase! Don’t forget to check out the guide linked below and my galleries!
Welcome back to another episode of Ma I’m Fine! In this episode, I’m sharing all about my time exploring the Amalfi Coast before heading to Switzerland. Ally and I spent four days using Sorrento as our home base, diving into everything this iconic destination has to offer.
From scuba diving in crystal-clear waters to taking an adventurous boat ride to Capri (be prepared to hike stairs here), the trip was filled with unforgettable moments. Unfortunately, we missed the famous Blue Grotto due to unsafe conditions, but we made up for it by ferrying to picturesque Positano the next day, where we enjoyed an incredible breakfast and relaxed on the beach.
We also explored Bagni Regina Giovanna in Sorrento, a spot I was excited to visit but ended up being disappointed by. Once a hidden gem, it has now become overcrowded with tourists, and unfortunately, many visitors don’t clean up after themselves. The once-pristine waters were littered with trash, making it a stark reminder of how tourism can negatively impact even the most beautiful places.
While the Amalfi Coast is a dream destination for many, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. Despite its beauty, it felt overly touristy and expensive, making it a place I wouldn’t rush back to. That said, Ally and I ended our time there on a high note—having the best lobster pasta right by the ocean, exploring the stunning cliffs, and enjoying an unforgettable dinner in a lemon orchard in Sorrento. The setting was magical, the food was incredible, and it was easily one of the best dining experiences of the trip.
If you’re planning your own trip, all the spots I visited are detailed in my guide below! I hope the episode helps with your research phase!
